Comes in either a matt chromium finish, a polished chromium finish, a shiny lacquer finish or a matt lacquer finish. The understated embossed LAMY logo on the side of the LAMY Pico goes beyond simply the aesthetic. In true Bauhaus fashion, it not only accents the small understated nature of the Pico pen with a proportionally sized branding, it serves also two important functions: a stopper to prevent the pen from rolling down a table, and also holds the innovative LAMY Pico push button technology in place and locks it to the pen body.  

The technology

The LAMY pico is a real master of transformation which reveals its true size when slight pressure is applied: thanks to the sophisticated push mechanism, the compact cylinder is transformed into a full-grown ballpoint pen in a flash. 

The LAMY Pico "pocket pen" was born out of a short but simple design request by Dr. Lamy to LAMY Pico designer Franco Clivio: "do what you want -- but please don't make a fountain pen." The result is a surprising, practical, and innovative pen design that draws rave reviews even today.  

Designer Franco Clivio aimed for a pen boiled down to the basics -- people want a pen handy, without anything snagging / hooking or getting in the way. Easy to use without frills yet beautiful to behold.

The resulting pen -- the LAMY Pico -- thus hides a deceptively complex mechanism in its unassuming small exterior. The unique push button mechanism was an enormous challenge for LAMY's engineers when it was first designed. Imagine the challenge of giving the user a "full pen" experience in the body not much larger than that of a lipstick.  

Its innovative design is a winner of various awards, validating the thought and effort going into the design of the LAMY Pico.
